Scarves

During the hotter months (yes we are finally getting them) I find myself constantly on the lookout for ways to stay cool. Skirts are a must, light tops are great and shoes that let my feet breath help. My hair loves the heat and humidity. Curls, fuzz, and frizz abound in this weather...which to be honest does not really bother me. I like the "grunge" look as I call it, nothing too polished or styled for me. This view might have emerged due to years of fighting against my hair texture to have that polished look, though I don't remember consciously making the switch. Anyway, a great way to keep this wild nest of hair cool is whipping it up into a bun. A bun, nothing new or fun or exciting about a bun. But...if you add a scarf to it the world of possibilities is open wide. Every single resale shop I go into is brimming full of scarves so the choices are endless. Today I wrapped one around this mane a few times and called it a day. I hate when the silk of the scarf makes it slip out rather than keeping tight to my head-something I will have to work out.

Anyway...how are you staying cool these days? Especially if you are pregnant.

My Current Favorite : Bronzers

I am very pale with freckles. When one is so pale most bronzers look as if an orange chalk stick has been rubbed all over. This is not (usually) the goal of any woman. However, there is a bronzer I have fallen in love with and used for the past 3 year. Bobbi Brown's Bronzer is perfection. The consistency is smooth and the bronzer is matte. I appreciate that Bobbi always offers a wide range of colors in her makeup line so that finding the perfect shade is rarely a problem. The Golden Light shade is fabulous on me and gives me a realistic touch of color without going overboard.

I also adore her Illuminating Bronzer because it gives dimension and energy to my face on those days when it is feeling/looking a bit dull. Often times during the Summer or when on vacation I just swipe the Illuminating Bronzer on my face along with a swipe of chapstick and am ready to go for the day. I love when I come across products that allow me to get ready in the fewest steps possible. Don't you? So, if you have not ever tried a bronzer or if you are still on the hunt for a good one I cast all of my votes for Bobbi's!

My current favorite : Facial Cleanser

This is the best facial cleanser I have ever used. It takes off  every bit of makeup and leaves the skin clean but not tight.  The other day I had put eyeliner all over my face to create a faux mustache and super thick eyebrows (don't ask why) and with a single pump of this stuff it all came off! They sell this stuff in small bottles at Ulta and Nordstrom, but I suggest going for the huge bottle from QVC. I just finished mine and I think I bought it about two years ago and have used it almost every day. My new one came today in the mail and I am thankful because nothing else will substitute. I have tried other soaps and often they break me out after a week of use....this stuff is pure gold! Give it a try, I don't think you will regret it.

Butterfly Hunting

This weekend we were blessed with the most beautiful weather. This of course meant relishing every moment we could outside. The older two spent quite a lot of time butterfly hunting. Thankfully we had the good fortune of being able to catch two butterflies (I actually believe it was one very unintelligent butterfly) so both of the littles felt pretty pleased with themselves. I love when little things make them so happy and filled with wonder. I need to spend more time outside....if only bees (and my fear of them) did not exist in abundance out there!

 Have a lovely day!
