corner by corner

I am in a perpetual state of wanting to redecorate my house. Do you ever feel like parts of your house just aren't "you" and therefore you don't feel as at home in them? There is so much I want to do in our house-I literally could list every single room and then what I would like to change/have done in there. I was lamenting to my sweet hubby the other day....and he asked me what changes I wanted to make. And that is where the problem lies. I never know exactly what I want to do, just that something needs to change.

As we were talking about decorating and what we both like in a home I started reflecting on about a month ago when I made a little vignette on top of a closet in our bedroom. I loved everything about it. It made me feel like I had so left my fingerprint on the room...on that little spot....and whenever I looked at it I loved it and felt all at home. (picture below)

When I explained this to Nate he stated, "Let's do that then...redecorate the house one corner at a time!" I LOVED that...one corner at a time.

And that my friends is just what we have been doing. It helps me from feeling overwhelmed with a space and all my bustling ideas, it keeps me from blowing the bank all at once, and it makes me focus on the details of an area rather than the whole scope of the room. Needless to say I am quite enjoying myself. A house needs to be worked out until it is just what you want it to be and is somewhere that feel like an extension of yourself-at least that is how I see it.  Here is what we have so far....

I would love to hear any tips, places to shop, inspirational magazines, blogs, websites you look at...really anything to help us all on this journey of making our house our home.

Why did this bring tears to my eyes? Maybe its because you brought to life my exact thoughts and reeling these past months. Loved Nates words, corner by corner. The goodwill of st. Charles probably knows me by name, also repurposing is my favorite word lately.

Fabulous! I live by that old saying, Have nothing in your home that you do not believe to be beautiful or know to be useful. Love your beautiful little vignettes.
