three smart choices

Below are three clothing items you will not regret having in your wardrobe.

Free People Top (which comes in many colors)

Zella Black Leggings (thank you Jen and Rachel for the suggestion)

Booties (I found mine at Salvation Army but countless stores have great options right now)

The reason these are smart choice are because....

1. You can wear them no matter what your size.
An example of this is that I have worn the Free People top before I was pregnant, during my pregnancy and while nursing. It has adapted along with my body and helped me feel put together and comfortable at the same time. The leggings obviously have to be worn under the belly while pregnant but are especially amazing early post-pardum since they have a large waistband that holds you in and leaves you smooth. Booties, as with all shoes, work great no matter what weight or height you are.

2. They are not limited to a certain season.
The top can be worn alone, paired with a jacket, layered over a long sleeve shirt, or underneath a chunky sweater. Leggings can be great in the summer, worn with dresses and booties in the fall and long sweaters with tall boots in winter. Booties again know no season and look cute both alone or styled with fun tights.

3. Any age can wear them and not look like they are trying too hard.
Hopefully no explanation needs to be made here. But as further support to my statement let me just say I have seen a high school girl wearing this outfit and I have seen a grandmother wearing this outfit and both looked equally lovely and age appropriate!

Any smart clothing choices I should be making? I always am up for purchasing something that fits well within those three rules.

Store Opening

Naperville's Anthropologie Store Opening Preview

My sweet friend Leah invited me (and my littlest) to be her special guest at the Naperville's Anthro opening. It was so fun getting out and "window" shopping with a swarm of women who were as excited as I was to have an Anthro nearby (sorta nearby). There were delicious drinks (still daydreaming about them), a gelato station, finger foods brought to you as you browsed and the most upbeat and friendly staff ever. Everyone was dressed for the occasion and it was energizing seeing such unique and fashionable pieces since my world as of late has greatly lacked in that area.  Eliza slept the entire time and Leah gracious listened as I offered a running commentary on every clothing item in the store. What can I say-I haven't gotten out shopping much and I was on a high. Here are a few shots from the night of the lovely new store.

Oh Anthropologie we love you, even if most of your price tags read $98 or more.

Dreaming in Dresses

Dresses and skirts are my favorite things to wear. I enjoy the femininity of dresses and always find it a win when a single piece of clothing can be considered an entire outfit. I know with nursing in my near future that some dresses will be off limits for a time, but that certainly is not going to stop me from daydreaming about them.  I jumped over to Madewell today and took a peek at their new dresses coming. I appreciate Madewell's ability to be simple, cute and realistic in their clothing options. And please don't get me thinking about the tights I would pair with these lovelies because I might not ever stop!  Here are a few of the dresses that caught my eye....what are you dreaming about lately in the clothing category?

Current Favorite Kid Clothing: Misha Lulu

It is no secret I cannot get enough of the fashion brand Misha Lulu. Here are just a few reasons why.

If these items were hanging in my children's closets I would have quite a lot of fun! I like how their designs have a touch of quirk and vintage to them while remaining fresh and new. Someday I will bite the bullet and purchase a few of their items...but until then cheers to online closets:)

You can check
out all their items here. The above images were taken from their website.

Free People Dreaming

Free People has the corner on the market for feminine dresses and slips. It seems every single one (minus the whole spandex tube things) I can imagine myself wearing. Their dresses are so appealing because they are easy to layer, are feminine and romantic, allow pops of colors to be added through tights or leggings and for the most part are universally flattering.  So, until I figure out to make around $100 plus to get one of these beauties in my closet I will be digging through resale shops all over with the hope that one will be found. Hey, sometimes this realist can be an optimist right?
